Meet Our Lead Pastoral Couple
Zach and Jade Hafner met in 2017 while serving in partner High School Ministries. They got married in 2018 and have been involved in vocational ministry together ever since. Jade’s administrative and organizational abilities have led her to serving in executive assistant and director roles within various churches and corporate settings. She is passionate about hospitality, pastoral care, and counseling.
Zach's journey in pastoral ministry began in 2012, following his transformation from a life of substance abuse and partying in the snowboard world. He has held various roles in different churches in Southern California, with much time spent pastoring high school and college students in Yucaipa.
Zach pursued his undergraduate studies at Calvary Chapel Bible College and obtained graduate degrees in Applied Biblical Leadership and Biblical and Theological Studies from Western Seminary. Currently, he teaches as a Professor of Biblical Studies at Calvary Chapel Bible College and remains passionate about serving in the local church.
Zach and Jade enjoy outdoor adventures with their son, Paxton, and their husky, Granite, and love hosting people for meals around their table.
Why Plant a Church?
God – God loves the church. And God loves the city. The Church is His “Plan A” for His work in the world. St. Paul’s favorite metaphor for the church is the “Body of Christ” and, while a powerful metaphor, we believe this speaks to an even more powerful reality that the church, as a community indwelt by the Spirit of God, is the tangible presence of Jesus working on his behalf in the world today.
People – New churches reach people that existing churches have not reached or have lost. While there are large quantities of people within any given city who do not know Jesus, current research shows that there are an estimated 40 million Americans who once were actively part of a church community that no longer are. Therefore, there is ample opportunity for new churches to embed a wholistic gospel in the city and reach un-churched and de-churched people alike.
City – When a church embodies the hope of the gospel through practicing the way of Jesus in the midst of the brokenness that surrounds it, the city will see its needs being met. The hungry will be fed. The lonely will be comforted. The poor will be cared for. The immigrant will be embraced. The vulnerable will be protected. The prisoner will be visited. And the city will experience gospel renewal.
